Title MAN B&W RADIAL TURBOCHARGERS AFTER 32 000 HOURS OF HFO OPERATION
Accession No 00718887
Publication Date   19950000
Languages English
Abstract In late 1990, the first three of 36 re-engined 6L28/32H gen-sets built by MAN B&W Diesel A/S in Denmark, were delivered for the Atlantic-class container vessel MV OOCL INSPIRATION. Subsequently, the other 33 engines were delivered to 11 sister ships in 1991. One of the determining factors for the re-engining contract was the expected 20 000 hour interval between overhauls. The article summarises a status report of the inspection of the NT20/R turbocharger, fitted to one of the engines onboard the OOCL INSPIRATION. This gen-set had achieved its first 20 000 running hours in July 1993. The inspection showed that both compressor and turbine were clean and without detectable deposits, as were the diffuser and nozzle ring.
