Maximum temperatures of 100" or higher were re orted from one or more stations in all States or parts of gtates iu the district, except in the New Mexico area, where the highest reading wits 9s". Minimum temperatures were enerally below 50", except and 60'. The highest temperature recorded, 106O, occurred a t Coolid e, Kans., and a t Cloudchief and Newkirk, Okla. daxinium readings of 104" were recorded in the Colorado, hlissouri, and Tennessee areas. I n New Mexico the average from 39 stations in the Canadian Valley was 4.77 inches, about 2.1 inches above the normal. Over those portions of the Caiiadiaii Valley that lie in Texas and Oklahoina the average from 21 stations wa9 2.08 inches, about 1.5 inches below the normal. The amounts from 19 stations in the Cimarron Valle averaged 3.17 inches, about 0.2 inch above the nornia T . Over the Verdigris Valley the precipitation was light, the avera e from 9 stations being 1.47 inches, about 3.3 inches % elow the normal. Over the Neosho Valley the average from 18 stations was 2.01 inches, about 3 inches below the normal. Below the Oklahoma-Arkansas line the precipitation from 14 stations in the Arkansas Valley proper averaged 1.46 inches, about 2.4 inches below the normal amount. Red River and tributaries.-The precipitation was un- evenly distributed over this draina e area. The average inches, about 1 inch below the normal. Below the Texas- Arkansas line the average from 19 stations in the Red River Valley was 2.46 inches, about 1.9 inches below the normal. Uississippi River south of St. Louis and small t r i h taries.-The precipitation was generally l g h t for this season of the year over this drainage area.
