Sperm/Egg Function Following Toxic Insult SD Perreault 22.31.10.08 A wide variety of xenobiotic agents are thought to impair fertility in humans and laboratory animals. It is necessary to define and characterize toxicant action regarding mechanisms and sites to facilitate risk assessment and interspecies extrapolation. Research opportunities focus on (1) in vitro and in vivo assessments of sperm motility and fertilizing ability and (2) oocyte maturation and activation during fertilization. Methods in gamete micromanipulation are also available.
