Summary

Postdoctoral position in Sensor Development: The Sensors and Micromanipulation team in the Sensors and Electrochemical Devices Group (MPA-11) of the Materials Physics and Applications Division is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to develop sensors of various kinds, with an emphasis on acoustic sensors. The sensors are related to fluid flow (single phase to multiphase) and fluid characterization, materials characterization, characterization of particulate matter in fluid, and nondestructive testing of materials. The primary objective of the research is to solve practical problems in industry. The work also involves development of instrumentation. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of new sensor technologies and patents. There will be extensive opportunities to work in a wide range of areas and to innovate.

Required Skills

Competitive applicants will have a strong background in one or more areas: Ultrasonic techniques, Nondestructive testing, Sensor technologies, Hydrodynamics, Wave scattering, Numerical Analysis, and Computer Programming Languages. Successful candidates will need to possess extensive hands-on experience in designing and conducting experiments. Candidates should also possess excellent verbal and written skills.

Desired Skills

Fluency in programming language, such as MATLAB, Mathermatica, Visual Basic or Visual C++. Knowledge of electronics and computer controlled experimentation.

Education

A PhD in Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering completed within the last five years or woon to be completed is required.

Notes To Applicants

In addition to the application process, please e-mail curriculum vitae to Dr. Dipen Sinha at Sinha@lanl.gov. For further technical information, please contact Dipen Sinha at Sinha@lanl.gov or at (505)667-0062.
