The North Coast Range AMA covers 250,000-scattered acres on the Siuslaw National Forest and the
Bureau of Land Management, Salem District in the Northern Coast Range
Physiographic Province of Oregon State. Both the Grand Ronde and
Siletz Tribes have reservations within the exterior boundary of the
AMA. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians have a reservation of
some 3,000 acres in scattered parcels in the south portion of the Area.
The North Coast emphasizes restoration and maintenance of
mature forest habitat. Potential collaborative efforts between the Oregon
Department of Forestry, researchers, tribal, and local governments are designed
to develop a strategy for the conservation of fisheries and other biodiversity
in the northern Oregon Coast Range. Associated communities include Forest Grove, Tillamook, Hebo,
Cloverdale, McMinnville, Willamina, and Lincoln City, Oregon.
