Current Activities:

1. Support all visiting scientists on PXRR beamlines
from X8 thru X29. See support staff page

2. Assisted in the recent upgrades of beamline X12-C
to a state-of-the-art detector and diffractometer system.

3. Maintain and develop experimental equipment.

4. Update and impliment safety procedures.

5. Prepare xtal mounting lab and organize supplies for annual RapiData Course.

Past Activities: Supported Dr. Robert Sweet and Guest Experimenters at
beamline X12C. We also maintained a Photo Development
Lab/ Dark Room (Yes..film).

Upgraded the existing Enraf-Nonius FAST detector by
replacing it with a MAR Research 300mm Image Plate.
Integrated with the Enraf-Nonius diffractometer, a
MAR/Enraf-Nonius hybrid was created.

The prototype CCD Cameras developed by Walter Phillips'
Detector Group of Brandeis University brought leading edge,
state-of-the-art technology to X12C. The integration and
implementation of the Brandeis series (initially the B-1, and
as technology evolved, the B-1.3 and B-4) was a fulfilling
and exciting experience. (Such speed!).

During our annual RapiData courses I have assisted Elspeth
Garman and Sean Parkin during crystal freezing practicals.
Instructing the students in the safe use of liquid propane,
liquid nitrogen and more recently, a Xenon chamber has been
rewarding. The RapiData Course has a perfect safety record.

Beamline X12-C was reconfigured and upgraded by installing
new monochromator, and mirror tanks, electronics, controls,
in addition to other components thus increasing efficiency and
productivity.

After a two year absence, I returned to BNL to disassemble
and retire the Brandeis/Nonius combination. I also assisted
in a much needed Experimental Station "Hutch" expansion and
the commissioning of a new Quantum 210 from Area Detector
Systems Corporation (ADSC).
