Main Display Console - Major Displays during Launch

Main Display Console - critical launch displays

Abort Light.  Illuminates red to indicate that abort has been requested by range safety officer or ground control.


Event Timer.  4 indicating drums to count up or down in minutes or seconds.




Launch Vehicle (LV) Engines Status Display

LV Rate.  Illuminates red if LV pitch, roll,  or yaw rates exceed limits.
SII Separation.  Illuminates Red to indicate first stage jettison and extinguishes when interstage skirt is jettisoned.
LV Guidance.  Illuminates red to indicate loss of attitude reference in LV guidance system.
Lights 1 to 5.  Illuminate yellow if the relevant engine is operating below nominal thrust.


Lift Off/No Auto Abort Switch/Light. Illuminates white from lift-off until S-1C staging if the  Launch Vehicle Emergency Detection System (EDS) is  functioning.   Illuminate red if either of the abort systems has not been automatically enabled.  Switch manually enables the EDS.  If the light still does not go out, one or both EDS systems is not enabled, and a manual abort may be required.
Apex Cover Jettison. Push-switch to jettison CM apex cover if automatic system fails during an abort or earth landing after a normal mission.
LES Motor Fire.  Manually operates the LES, either to jettison the LES tower or to fire the motor in the event of an LES abort.  In the former case, the explosive bolts connecting the LES tower to the CSM must fire first.
Drogue Deploy.  Back-up switch to manually deploy the CM drogue parachutes.
Canard Deploy.  Back-up switch to manually deploy the LES canard parachutes Main Deploy.  Back-up switch to manually deploy the CM main parachutes.
CSM/LV Separation.  Manually separate the CSM from the launch vehicle during an abort or in normal operation. CSM RCS Dump.  Switch to manually dump the CM Reaction Control System Propellant by firing 10 of 12 RCS engines.




Event Timer Controls. 
Reset/Down: 
Select Up, Event Timer will reset to zero and stop counting.  Select Down, Event Timer counts down.
Start/Stop:  Select Up to start Event Timer, Down to stop Event Timer.
Min Tens/Units:  Select Up to run Minutes indicating drum in tens, select Down to run Minutes indicating drum in units.MinSec Tens/Units:  Select Up to run Seconds indicating drum in tens, select Down to run Seconds indicating drum in units.
