Perseid Meteor Shower this Weekend

Updated Forecast Below

The annual Perseid meteor shower will peak early this morning. According to NASA...the best time to view the show will be before dawn.

Weather conditions will be crucial for optimal viewing. As of 3am CDT...stratus (low clouds) and patchy fog were developing near and south of the Platte River Valley. For those waking up early to view the meteors...locations north of Highways 26 and 30 are clear. Areas south of North Platte and east of Highway 83 are mostly clear as well at this time...however...low cloud development is possible this morning as light fog is developing near McCook.
