As a new subscriber to the listserv, I have found the discussions to date both
useful and informative. With respect to union-management workplace literacy
collaboration, there is a new set of documents recently issued by the Canadian
Labour Congress which might be of interest.

The titles are as follows:

Making it clear : clear language for union communications written by Anna Larsen
(c1999)

Learning for our lives : a union guide to worker-centred literacy researched and
written by Sylvia Sioufi. (c2000)

Bargaining basic skills : what unions should know about negotiating
worker-centred literacy programs researched and written by John Anderson.
(c2000)

All three documents have been produced as part of the Learning in Solidarity
series. This series was developed as part of the Canadian Labour Congress'
Workplace Literacy Project, funded by the National Literacy Secretariat
(Canada). They are also available in French. You might want to check out the
CLC's Workplace Training Strategy and Protocol at the following address:
http://www.clc-ctc.ca/policy/train/strategy.html. The documents listed above
are not yet available on the website, however, if interested, you might want to
contact them at 2841 Riverside Drive, Ottawa Ontario, Canada, K1V 8X7.
