o &nb= sp; Has been switched to a web-based system R= 11; officers and supervisors will be asked a series of questions that will be u= sed to calculate an officer’s billet grade through the web-based program

o &nb= sp; Standardized billet system expected to be te= sted in July with implementation by the end of the year

o &nb= sp; Non-standard billets will be addressed at a later date

Promotion Benchmarks<= /b>

o      = Spring version o= f PBKS 2008 has been revised and is now posted

o      = SGLI monthly pre= mium will decrease in two months to $26 per month from the current $29 per month – this information will be updated in the appropriate documents in the near future

o      = WACS migration h= as been completed; beta testing is taking place to determine any errors that m= ay occur while navigating the site

§      =    Overall category= is growing – problem is that the PharmPAC is limited to 20 membership positions and only the Surgeon General can increase the number – this= is not likely at this time

§      =    Due to time constraints, an e-mail was sent with possible avenues of redefining members= hip across the agencies to address the issue with CDC - the e-mail did not rece= ive enough responses from the PharmPAC membership to allow an SOP change – need to solicit members for the next term preclude any changes at this time=

o      = A few comments have been received and shared with the other PharmPAC members – continue to solicit PharmPAC member comments before disseminating survey to the field – comment deadline = is mid-May

JOAG is planning a Forward Thinking Retreat for junior officers the weekend before the COF Symposium in Tucson, AZ to held Saturday, June 7 through Monday, June 9

o      = Purpose is to look at ways to plan for the future of the Commissioned Corps over the next 20 to 30 years

o      = COF will provide the conference room

o      = Facilitators will be officers from the BOP a= nd JOAG voting members

o      = There is no fee, but officers will have to provide their own travel and lodging

o      = Goal is 30 to 40 officers – about 50 officers have signed up

The PharmPAC again has been continually working on commenting on new polic= ies from the Surgeon General’s office. Please make sure you continua= lly look at the CCMIS website for the new policies that have been posted.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> They are noted on the first p= age of the website

The PharmPAC is currently heading up collaboration with other PACs in the promotion of the Officer Health Program. The PACs that were wishing to collaborate were nominating an officer to work with LCDR Postelle Birch-Smith on further developing the project

Since we have begun using some of our coin sale funds to support PAC activit= ies we need to come up with ideas on how to replenish the funds. We may promote merchandise “fund-raising” (not allowed to use that term per SG office) that shows “esprit de corps”. We are getting to the last of= our remaining pharmacy coins, and we need fresh ideas to obtain funds. We can order more coins; howe= ver, depending on how big of an interest there is, there are again initial costs and a minimum quantity that needs to be purchased. But, we are looking for any ideas. If anyone is inte= rested in working on this project or has any ideas please e-mail LCDR Violette Ganoe at vganoe@bop.gov. All of the PACs are in a curr= ent discussion regarding the operating costs of the PACs, for example plaq= ues, awards, teleconference lines, etc as some of the smaller categories are having difficulty in funding their meetings/costs

Next month (June meeting) we are planning to have a panel discussion on benchmarks with a question and answer session for officers

Have not yet made a decision regarding the July PharmPAC meeting. Still waiting on a few PAC me= mbers to respond to the request by LCDR Violette Ganoe. If you have not done so, plea= se respond ASAP

Indian Health Service (IHS) – CDR Bradley Bishop

o      = United States Senate has approved appointmen= t of a new IHS Director, Robert “Bob” McSwain

o      = Southwest Regional Pharmacy Continuing Educa= tion Seminar will be held in Scottsdale, AZ the week prior to the COF Symposium – all pharmacists are welcome – fee for non-IHS is $150

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – CDR Matthew Tarosky

o      = CDR Tarosky provided a written report (please see attachment)

o      = FDA Amendment Act recently approved in the p= ast year – has been beneficial to FDA – has brought more FTEs to FDA – approximately 1,300 positions (700 new and 600 current) will be fil= led in the next few years and FDA now has direct hire authority that will streamline the hiring process – most FDA vacancies can be found throu= gh the USAjobs website – mostly scientific, medical and regulatory posit= ions – FDA is receiving list of available pharmacists from OCCO to assist = in hiring of Commissioned Corps officers

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)- CAPT Lia Prela

o      = A Patient Safety Collaborative meeting was h= eld in Virginia April 30 – major focus was limited English literacy, heal= th literacy and cultural competency – POC is LCDR Krista Scardina
