Numerical Solution of Palindromic Eigenvalue Problems

Abstract:

In the talk, we discuss palindromic eigenvalue problems. Such problems
arise, e.g., in the vibration analysis of rail tracks under excitation
from high speed trains. We present three numerical methods for the
solution of such eigenvalue problems: (1) a generalization of the Laub
method for the solution of Hamiltonian eigenvalue problems; (2) a
generalization of Eberlein's Jacobi-like method for general complex
eigenvalue problems; (3) a hybrid method which combines (1) and (2).
