Terms

Confluence - Intersection of two rivers

Merged Dataset - Merging field data with image layer(s) (remote sensed, GIS)

Model Array - Subset of Merged Dataset, input into modeling algorithm

Augmented Dataset - Adding a calculated/derived field to merged dataset.

Kriging - Geostatistical method for generating residuals for remote sensed points for which you don't have field data

Nugget - Variogram attribute, must be a non-zero value. The difference/variability, between point values taken within a 20 x 50 meter area.

Range - Variogram attribute, Kriging attribute, distance it took to get to the sill

Reach - Length of a river containing no intersections

Sill - Variogram attribute, the plateau, largest value of variability.

Invasive Species - A non-native species whose introduction causes or is likely to cause harm to the economy, environment or human health.

GeoStatistics - Applies the theories of stochastic processes and statistical inference to geographic phenomena.

Computer Cluster - A collection of 2 or more computers that appear as a single computer to the user community.

Computer Grids - A large number of computers arranged as clusters, embedded in a distributed telecommunications infrastructure.

RAID - Basic idea is to combine multiple small, inexpensive disk drives into an array of disk drives which yields performance exceeding that of a Single Large Expensive Drive (SLED). Additionally, this array of drives appears to the computer as a single logical storage unit or drive.
