Earth
and Moon from Space
Earth
and the Moon were imaged by JPL's Galileo spacecraft in 1992 on
its way to explore the Jupiter system. Earth's shimmering, jewel-like
beauty contrasts with the gray, lifeless surface of its satellite.
The Earth image is centered on the Pacific Ocean about latitude
20 degrees south. The bright ray crater seen near the bottom of
the Moon is the Tycho impact basin. |
