Dear FDA,
 
I am dismayed by your proposed policies on genetically engineered 
 (GE)foods. Despite overwhelming consumer demand, your agency still fails 
to require safety testing and mandatory labeling for GE foods. Your 
“notification” policy is inadequate and robs consumers of the right to 
decide for themselves whether they want to consume GE foods.  Freedom is 
having a choice and the information necessary to make it. Your proposed 
policies would reduce my ability to choose, and thus, my freedom.  This 
sort of America (taking away choices) is not the one I was brought up in 
nor the kind of America the people will tolerate.  

I am also greatly opposed to your new “voluntary labeling” policy, which 
denies consumers a basic right to know. This is as dimwitted and 
ineffective as suggesting that industry ought to monitor their own toxic 
emissions and enforce their own compliance.  Most of the Europeans I 
personally know think US government proposals regarding GMO's, bGH, hemp 
production, and other agricultural issues border on idiocy.  WAKE UP!  
Mandatory labeling is a no-brainer.

Please take into consideration my comments, and know that there are many 
Americans who feel as I do.  Give us our right to choose what we eat.
