Surface Wind Forecast Guidance
This wind animation depicts forecasted hourly surface (33 ft [10m] above the water) winds for the near future. The hourly wind fields were created by spatially and temporally interpolating wind forecast guidance from the latest run of the National Weather Service's operational North American Mesoscale (NAM) weather forecast model. The original spatial and temporal resolutions of the NAM wind forecast was 7.5 miles (12 km) and 3 hours, respectively. These interpolated wind field were used by a hydrodynamic forecast model to generate oceanographic forecasts for the Bay.
