U.S. Department of Agriculture
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
NRCS is the primary federal agency that works with private landowners to help them conserve, maintain and improve their natural resources. The Agency emphasizes voluntary, science-based conservation; technical assistance; partnerships; incentive-based programs; and cooperative problem solving at the community level. Each state in Region 4 has a NRCS state office.
Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES)
CSREES is an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). CSREES' unique mission is to advance knowledge for agriculture, the environment, human health and well-being, and communities by supporting research, education, and extension programs in the Land-Grant University System and other partner organizations. CSREES doesn't perform actual research, education, and extension but rather helps fund it at the state and local level and provides program leadership in these areas.
CSREES collaborates or has formal working partnerships with many institutions and individuals. Our key partners are the institutions of higher learning making up the Land-Grant University System.
