Willow Oaks: You're right on both accounts. This first step is ussually recording the actual sound effect. Then, we spend many weeks manipulating the sounds on a computer. Would you guess that in T2 the morphing sounds were actually the sound of dog food coming out of a can!

Newman Elem: Would you have guessed that all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are actually animals that you can hear in the zoo. Many sounds are slowed down, some are mixed with other animals and before you know it you've created T-Rex.

Emily: When I used to work in documentaries it was my job to do all the sound work by myself. I had no boss, I was in complete control and I had a lot of fun. Then, I was hooked.

Amanda: There are several great sound supervisors at Skywalker Sound and we all try to share between ourselves.

Mandy: No, I personally never felt discriminated against due to my gender. Like I said it all has to do with self-confidence. But, yes, there are more men in post-production filmmaking. And I'm not quite sure why that is other than the fact that the hours are very very long. So what I"m saying that sometimes for women it's tough to balance having a family and an extremely time consuming career. Men are expected to be away from home a lot.
