Distribution in New Mexico: Eastern and northern part of state. Habitat: Grassland. Host: Grasses. Adults Present: July-September. Notes: Similar to Trachyrhachys, but with spoon-shaped cerci; tegmina spotted rather than banded; hind tibiae blue. Occasionally destructive to wheat. Reference: Otte 1984. Distribution in New Mexico: Statewide. Habitat: Grassland. Host: Grasses. Adults Present: April-October. Notes: ipale, slant-faced grasshopper with straight sides to lateral dorsal pronotal bands (similar Eriteuix has constriction toward middle); hind tibiae brown; without curved lateral pronotal marking found in Eritettix; tegniina shorter or as long as abdomen. Adults Present: July-October. Notes: Green to brown slant-faced grasshopper with lateral pronotal carinae cut by two sulci; often with contrasting longitudinal bands; hind tibiae brown.
