Common name: PARD GRASSHOPPER.
Size: 26-45 mm.
General distribution: S. central Canada, S. to Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Distribution in New Mexico: Eastern and northern part of state.
Habitat: Grassland.
Host: Grasses.
Adults Present: July-September.
Notes: Similar to Trachyrhachys, but with spoon-shaped cerci; tegmina spotted rather than banded; hind tibiae blue. Occasionally destructive to wheat.
