The Effect of Insulin and Ketone Bodies on the Glycolytic Intermediate in the Heart

The effects of insulin are mimicked in the heart by the addition of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are the physiological response of the animal to insulin deficiency. Ketone bodies can therefore replace many of the affects of insulin.
