Notes concerning Ulysses/URAP data for the Workshop Events Within each event directory, there is a urap subdirectory. Each of these contains one GIF file showing 4 days of Ulysses radio and plasma wave (URAP) data, the day of the event + the 3 following days. The top panels (RAR Hi and RAR Lo) show promarily radio data - type III and occasional type II bursts. The bottom panel (PFR) includes the electron plasma frequency, where Langmuir waves will be seen. If so, they may indicate magnetic connection from the flare site to the spacecraft (Ulysses). In comparing any type II activity observed by URAP to that of Wind/WAVES, remember that Ulysses is farther from the Sun and usually at a significantly different longitude and latitude than the earth. The following table lists the relevant parameters: - distance from the Sun to Ulysses (range in AU) - heliographic latitude of Ulysses (degrees) - the relative longitude of Ulysses (H_long(Ulysses)-H_long(Earth), if = 90 deg, then Ulysses is on the W limb as seen from Earth if = 180 deg, then Ulysses is behind the sun as seen from Earth Date Time Range H_lat Elong 970401 1400 4.94 13.62 -37.65 970407 1430 4.96 13.27 -43.52 970512 456 5.04 11.31 -76.86 971103 515 5.31 2.11 115.41 971103 1030 5.31 2.09 115.17 971104 600 5.31 2.06 114.42 971106 1220 5.31 1.94 112.19 971127 1330 5.33 0.89 91.20 971212 2245 5.35 0.12 75.85 980121 1040 5.37 -1.82 36.14 980125 1512 5.37 -2.03 31.98 980329 315 5.39 -5.08 -30.66 980420 1025 5.39 -6.17 -52.52 980423 600 5.39 -6.30 -55.18 980427 925 5.39 -6.50 -59.16 980427 1140 5.39 -6.51 -59.28 980502 1410 5.39 -6.76 -64.20 980502 1425 5.39 -6.76 -64.20 980502 1650 5.39 -6.76 -64.32 980503 2230 5.39 -6.82 -65.52 980506 825 5.39 -6.94 -67.80 980509 335 5.39 -7.07 -70.42 980511 2140 5.39 -7.21 -73.04 980519 1000 5.39 -7.58 -80.29 980527 1330 5.39 -7.97 -87.98 980611 1015 5.38 -8.70 -101.98 980616 1820 5.38 -8.96 -106.92 980620 2110 5.38 -9.16 -110.79
