Hi, perhaps a stupid question, but I need albedo values for MODIS ch 1-7, can I derive these in Seadas. Maybe it is known as something else in Seadas, I had a quick look.

If you want the albedo over land, please go to the website of the MODIS land team and look at their albedo product:
http://modis-land.gsfc.nasa.gov/

There are several ways to define albedo (for a single direction of incidence, averaged over all directions of incidence, spectral
weighting, top-of-atmosphere or surface-only). You could try to calculate the quantity you want yourself from the reflectance
products we provide.
If you do, please note that the relative uncertainties of the higher wavelengths products are very large because the signal
is so low (this is a problem for the surface-only albedo). Also note that many of the Aqua band 6 detectors are not working.

Ok, if I wanted the albedo for MODIS 1-7 over land, for specific incidence angles, can you point me to a method. Additionally, what reflectance products would I need to derive these?

Additionally, I think what I want is something that can be used operationally, e.g. for daily fog detection, not a product that is a rolling composite which is what the MODIS land product is. Perhaps thats not easy to derive??

If you want the albedo for bands 1-7 over land, I would definitely use the MODIS land product.

If you want it for every day, I would use the land level 2 directional reflectance product (MODIS land group
should have that product, but I am not sure),
compare it to the predictions by the BRDF model for that pixel (I know that's a land product) to derive fog.
I agree that a lot of additional work on your part will be needed. E.g., you will need to find out how the MODIS
land group does their atmospheric correction (maybe their algorithm already removes part of the fog signal that
you want to detect, maybe not).
