SUBJECT: Ambassador Hosts an Organic and Natural Food Promotion in the
Netherlands
A total of 24 companies exhibited product at the Ambassador's Organic
and Natural Food Promotion, which took place at the Ambassador's
residence on March 3, 1997. The majority of products on display were
new-to-market, while a handful of the products -- Celestial Seasonings,
Fantastic Foods, Apache Chips and Fetzer organic wines -- already had
distribution in the Netherlands and/or Belgium. Approximately 75 people
attended the promotion including some of the leading organic importers,
distributors and retailers from the Netherlands and Belgium. Although
the event generated a limited number of trade leads, there was
significant interest in several of the products on display, particularly
the innovative, new and different products that are not typically found
in the Benelux market. The day after the event, the Algemeen Dagblad,
a leading daily newspaper, carried a story about the promotion.
