General Comment

I am standing with the Family Planning Association of Maine in opposing this bill and any bill that
would endanger a woman's access and right to information regarding pregnancy options, including
abortion. The rule protecting the conscience of the health care provider inflicts unconscionable
harm on a patient who is trying to make an informed decision about her options. It also puts a
clinic in conflict with Title X obligations and therefore at risk for losing its federal funding. This is
unacceptable. No where in this bill are the rights of the patient considered. This too is
unacceptable. I strongly oppose this bill.
