DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL KIT "DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL" KIT FOR A SAFER AMERICA COALITION c/o National Consumers League 1701 K Street, NW, Suite 1200 Washington, DC 20006 (202) 835-3323 Fax (202) 835-0747 Dear Parent or Guardian: Enclosed is the free "Deputy Fire Marshal" kit that your child requested. The kit is just one element of the Be Cool About Fire Safety program, which is designed to teach kids important home fire safety tips. One of the "Cool Rules" noted in the kit is to have a home fire escape plan. If your child asks you about the fire escape plan in your home, feel free to call your local fire station for advice. The firefighters in your area can provide suggestions on fire escape plans in your home as well as other fire safety tips. Also, your child may want to locate your home's smoke detectors. Help familiarize your child with the sound of the smoke detector and make sure the batteries still work. This is something you and your child can do together. This program was developed by The Advertising Council in conjunction with the For a Safer America Coalition to battle the fact that today, children are increasingly likely to be injured, or even killed, in a fire in their home. We hope your child enjoys the "Deputy Fire Marshal" kit. Should you have any comments or questions, please write to: The Advertising Council, 1233 20th Street, N.W., Suite 500, Washington, D.C. 20036. Best wishes, Alan F. Benedeck Ruth A.
