Annotation: This Missouri fiscal year 2007 (July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007) Annual Report presents data on the impact of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program on State and local criminal justice systems.
Abstract: The 2006/2007 funding year was the first year of a 4-year strategic plan. A total disbursement of $6,583,668.24 was made by the Missouri Department of Public Safety - Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program (CJ/LE). Four purpose areas authorized by the 2006 JAG were funded: law enforcement; prosecution and court; prevention and education; and planning, evaluation, and technology improvement projects. The CJ/LE Program provided financial assistance to 35 State and local projects and administrative costs. This funding assisted 29 law enforcement programs; 3 prosecution and court programs; 1 prevention and education program; and 2 planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs. For fiscal year 2008, the funding level is projected to assist 28 law enforcement programs; 3 prosecution and court programs; 1 prevention and education program; and 2 planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs; as well as administrative costs. The DPS-CJ/LE Program continues to be an essential component of the statewide effort to address violent crime and drug abuse in Missouri. Through the JAG Program, Missouri has the financial capability to maintain essential projects that provide needed services by the criminal justice community. The report provides summaries of programs, their performance measures, evaluation methods, and evaluation results, as well as project fiscal year 2008 projected evaluations and program activities.
