Car Bomb Defused in Dagestan Capital

Security officers defused on Thursday a car bomb outside a high-rise building in Dagestan's capital Makhachkala, an officer on duty from the republican interior ministry told Itar-Tass.

The explosive device was planted in a Zhiguli car, and consisted of a 400-gram TNT block, a 20-liter canister with gasoline and a remote-control panel.

Local residents reported to police on a suspicious car parked near a high-rise building. Specialists draw attention to an important detail  the car was found in a direct vicinity of the house, from the roof of which a guided anti-tank missile was fired on Wednesday.

The missile hit an apartment house in Gorky Street in downtown Makhacnkala. The explosion seriously damaged an addition to the house, but luckily no one was injured.
