FAA /Industry Teams and Activities

  1. Aerospace Industries of America (AIA) Rotor Integrity Subcommittee (RISC)
    1. Committee of industry specialists to address FAA TRCRT recommendations.
    2. Standing committee to address rotor integrity issues.
    3. Committee helped the FAA develop the damage tolerance framework for engine rotors.
  2. Transport Aircraft Safety Subcommittee (TASS)
    1. In 1989 the FAA Administrator established TASS, which reports to FAA Research, Engineering and Development Advisory Committee.
    2. Reporting to TASS was:
      • Airworthiness Assurance Task Force (AATF)
      • Systems Review Task Force (SRTF)
  3. Engine Titanium Consortium
    • Chartered to review and improve manufacturing and in-service inspection processes for all rotating life limited parts.
  4. AIA Materials and Structures Committee (MSC)
    • FAA/Industry team was founded in 1992 to establish and implement the best manufacturing practices of titanium rotors.
