Comet Hale-Bopp Images - May 1997

One was with a 50mm Nikkor lens at f/1.4 for 30 seconds. The second was with a 180mm Nikkor lens at f/2.8 for 1 minute. Both were on Kodak Royal Gold 400.

1. 16 x 20 second exposures of Hale Bopp, taken through a Lumicon Swann Band filter have been processed using a rotational gradient filter, with rotation 10 degrees and amplification 10. Images obtained using 12 inch Maksutov, with SBIG ST8 CCD working in HIGH RESOLUTION MODE (9 micron Pixels) Images.

2. 16 x 20 second images of Hale Bopp obtained using a Lumicon Swann band filter and a 12 inch Maksutov telescope has been dark subtracted and flat fielded,and a false colour pallate applied.

This false color image of Hale-Bopp was obtained with a 30 cm Meade LX200 reflector working at f/7 This is a composite of 16 -30 second exposures taken with an Apogee AP-7 CCD. The images were enhanced to show the jets from the nucleus.

Canon EOS 35mm with a 80 to 200mm lens set at 200mm. This was a 30 sec. exposure on a tripod with no tracking and using Fuji SuperG 800 film.
