This project was housed in the Eastern Carolina Injury Prevention Program (ECIPP), which is a joint effort of Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the Brody School of Medicine of East Carolina University. The REACT project was the first major project undertaken by ECIPP. We greatly appreciate the support, encouragement and assistance that ECIPP staff provided to those working directly on this project. We also appreciate the support of the members of the ECIPP Executive Committee, including Nick Benson, MD, Sharon Bradley, RN, MSN, Tom Czaplijski, RN, MSN, Alice Huggins, and Michael F.
Rotando, MD.
The Trauma Center of Pitt County Memorial Hospital and University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina generously provided office space for the project. In addition, Kathy Dutton, RN, MSN, Trauma Center Manager, was indispensable. We benefited greatly from her advice and guidance. Thanks also to Bonnie Long-Snyder for her assistance.
The REACT project benefited greatly from the genuine effort and hard work of its part-time staff. Rhonda Dale, RN, Marsha Mernone-Laitinen, RN, Chris Coltrain, EMT-P, and Denise Hankins went above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the project goals.
This project was envisioned and sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The efforts of three people at NHTSA are praiseworthy. John Chew (retired from NHTSA and now with the EMSTAR Group) was invaluable early on in determining the need for the project and helping design it. Joan Harris served as the original Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative; she was always available and her advice was always helpful. Last but not least, we appreciate greatly the patience, advice and support provided by our main COTR, Patti Ellison-Potter.
