Scheduled for launch in October 1997, the Cassini mission is a 
joint project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian 
Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, ASI) to place a 
spacecraft in orbit around Saturn for four years, and to send a 
probe to sample the atmosphere and observe the surface of Titan.  
Major scientific targets for the mission are Saturn's rings, the 
icy satellites, the atmospheres of Saturn and Titan, and Saturn's 
magnetosphere.  This painting depicts the release of the Huygens 
probe to Titan by the Cassini spacecraft.  Cassini will reach the 
Saturnian system in 2004.
