Young Lučenec Performers Enliven Public Affairs Holiday Party with Contemporary Music
Slavka Olahova and Alexander Berky perform Romany songs at holiday party |
Roma performers from the Lučenec-based non-government organization, CESPOM (Social Help Center for Youth), brought lively contemporary and traditional music to the annual Public Affairs Section holiday party, held December 9 at the residence of Deputy Chief of Mission Keith Eddins. Slávka Oláhová, vocalist, and Alexander Berky, keyboard and vocals, entertained about 65 partners and friends of the Embassy's Public Affairs Section with Romany and American ballads. The Embassy has maintained a long cooperation with CESPOM and its musical director, Eva Demeová, and the group has performed on several occasions at Embassy-sponsored events. Last summer, the Embassy also supported a two-week music camp, organized by CESPOM, for Roma students to receive professional training.
