     Your report of the expetiments on the lymphatic8 are
most interesting,  but what a shame about the rabies.  I know that
it is no Joke to take those inJectioner. They become pretty un-
comfortable if not painful as I reruember from Ear. Snowdon's ex-
perience in Baltimore years ago.

     Isn't forg& to send the pictures of yourself for I
ahall be most ha+@y to have theu~   In a few days I shall eend
you a copy of my ten years report.  Please read it and then
return 1 t to me.  I have only four copies twu of which have to
go to my Board,  then I shall kee-! one ;Ind send the other ,around
to the main people like yourself who have helped me to find tine
students.  I sh:tll apprecintd your opinion as to whether we have
done well or not.   I thidc tmt Brett. Denison will eventually
give tne whole fund to two Universities, part to the Wo;$cine

Ho:kins .   I think that the Ithaca Cornell is at very low ebb
at the present time excqt in the Agricultural College fmd I

is to have good work going on somewhere in the country or even

is fine nedical work going on in this country in widely scattered
plecao.  Vanderbilt certainly has a good record. Dr. iious ie
very enthusiastic about Dr. Beard and he is non very much cheered
up over the pros;?ects for next year.

     Dr. Geiger has lo& of courage over going bxk k, hat
is practiczxlly an interneti:).  iie is to be witit a very good surgeon
and he has never wavered f'pnmil his interest in bones end joints.
I tlonder if ;ie ever wrote to you how hia probUm c31;1e out in regard
to t&p sqqposed mix U;J in his R and S imcculations. Dr. SmithbuW
finally found out that the avian S strain lost it virulence entirely
without any chmg9 in its x&z   colony form.  Dr. Geiger's experiments
over tne four ye~irs with &his strain show very nicely this progressive
lose of virulence.  I think trot the two will publish this in a joint
paper this spring.   That was tne difficulty,  not a mix u> in
tne inoculations o   BTou see when the S anirm~ls had less virulence
t1m.t tne X in the original experiment Dr. Geiger could not believe
nis eyes and thought tnat he must hve :..zde a mist&e in his

Dr. Geiger is very happy in his r;lazriage and !u;re. Geiger ir mking
a great mxmess of her work at We Dalton School    She also haa

camp md is a vacaatlon for her as well as a chance to earn mohey.

    Eileen came over to the ]Institute the day before ehe #ailed.
