Research Project: EVALUATION AND COMPARISON OF BIOFUNGICIDES AND FUNGICIDES FOR THE CONTROL OF POST HARVEST POTATO TUBER DISEASES

Location: Vegetable and Forage Crops Research Laboratory

Project Number: 5354-21220-010-10
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 17, 2007
End Date: Sep 30, 2009

Objective:
Evaluate efficacy of different modes of action of fungicides on control of post harvest tuber disease of potato.

Approach:
Inoculate potatoes post harvest for control of with Phytophthora infestans, P. infestans, Pythium utlimum Fusarium sambucinum and Pectobacterium carotovora. Apply funigicides Serenade, Sonata, Quaddris, Phostrol and Oxidate, Plant various genotypes of potato in affected fields and in pots in the greenhouse. Score plant reactions to exposure to powdery scab. Examine timing and berm placement of agrichemicals with possibility of controlling powdery scab. Documents SCA with Michigan State University.
