Ladies and Gentlemen,

Kids and "kids at heart" have worked hard for this and now we are looking forward to admire their show. The final program is attached here.

We are going to have a near capacity crowd. We have nearly 350 reservations and we estimate ~50 kids under five. The maximum capacity of auditorium is 450. This means that we will still able to accommodate some more people who have not yet made the reservations but would just come and enjoy the show on impulse. We have been asked to keep the place clean and to keep kids under discipline.

We are also raising funds during this function. We would do auction of two $100 certificates each of Curry Club that can be used in multiple visits. One will be auctioned off before the intermission and one after. In addition we are having raffle. All savings and fund raised will be donated to Red cross.

BERA-IAA is looking forward to seeing you tomorrow November 19th, 2005.

November 17, 2005

You may have already heard that we are going to have a big crowd for Diwali function on Saturday. We are in great need of volunteers for serving food.

I appreciate your help in this regard. Ramesh must have mentioned to you all that to minimize crowding in the green room please instruct your group to dress up at their respective homes and use green facilities for final touch up. We also will be using a room in addition to green room for final dressing!

In your audio cassettes or cds have the item number and name of the item, track number etc. clearly mentioned to avoid confusion for the audio visual staff.

Thanks very much for your co-operation, see you all soon,

Sharadha

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thanks to the enthusiastic contributions from you, we have a great BERA-IAA DIWALI-2005 program waiting for you (see attached flyer and summary below). Moreover, we are having such an overwhelming response to attend the festivities that we are fast approaching the limit to what can be accommodated at our facilities. If you have not made reservations already, please do so immediately by sending an e-mail to gupta@bnl.gov or sharadha@bnl.gov or chouhan@bnl.gov. We are sorry but we may not necessarily be able to assure a seat after Tuesday November 15, 2005. Please remember that a request for participation in the cultural program by one of your family member does not automatically guarantee a seat for every one in the family. If you are a dance teacher or you forwarded us the names of number of other performers, we request you to kindly forward this message to those performers and their family members as soon as possible.

We have fifteen group dances, four solo dances, four songs, and six instrumental music performances. In addition, we are having shlokas, introduction to Diwali, Ramadan and Eid. And perhaps for the first time, we have a young artist presenting a magic show. In addition some fun activities will take place between changes over from one item to another. We apologize that we had to say no to many after the October 31st deadline in order to keep the length of the program somewhat reasonable. We appreciate your understanding.

In addition to above festivities, the spirit of Diwali is to help bring light to others lives. This year the world has seen a number of natural disasters. Funds saved from this program will be donated to American Red Cross to help support its activities around the world. We would raise extra funds from the raffle with a ticket price of $5 each (buy five tickets get one extra, buy ten get three extras and fifteen get six extras --- your generosity is rewarded). The winner gets one third of the amount raised from this raffle. In addition, Curry Club (from where we are purchasing food) is donating a $100 gift certificate that would be auctioned off during the proceedings. Priyanka Tope will be distributing her CD’s and 10% of the proceeds will be donated. If you want to some how contribute to fund raising, there is still time to do so.

So please come, participate, enjoy, and contribute. However, please don’t forget to make reservations ASAP to assure your entry.

BERA-IAA is looking forward to seeing you on this Saturday November 19th, 2005.

 October 25, 2005

Once again, we would like to invite you to attend BERA-IAA Diwali function on November 19, 2005. Please see attachment for more details.

Please respond by October 31st, 2005 if you or any one in your family would like to perform.

We are very pleased that this has become a very popular informal annual event in the community. To give maximum number of people a chance to perform while keeping the length of the program reasonable, we are limiting each performance to a maximum five minutes and one performance per group.

Celebrating the best spirit "Diwali", part of the proceeds from this function will be donated to American Red Cross to help survivors of number of natural disasters around the world.  Please feel free to contact us, if you have some ideas to further increase this contribution.

Looking forward to seeing you,
