Teacher Terror--the REAL Obstacle

As environmental ecucation director for a state agency, I often attend meetings with educators where I offer the internet site and computer BBS run by my agency as a resource for them. The overwhelming reaction is fear--almost terror. Teachers are afraid of technology. They apparently are not given the proper training that would let them overcome this fear. They KNOW that many of their students are far ahead of them as far as computer and on-line technology are concerned. Some express concern that this woud mean they would not be able to maintain control of the students on line. Teachers need to be guided into the on-line world--not asked to close their eyes and jump in.
