Effects of Shear Flow and Thermal Gradients
Objectives
- To develop a realistic computer program that employs appropriate models for interface and interphase characterization
and prediction as related to multi-phase polymer processing under shear flow and thermal gradients
- to measure parameters needed for input into the models
- to make predictions based on the models, and establish characterization protocols for successive
iterations, refinement, and verification of the individual models and program predictions
- To develop characterization techniques and procedures for evaluating the interphase structure and its formation
during the processing of a polymer paint/coating on a structured substrate surface formed by a process described
in (1).
- To develop protocols for interactive optimization of multi-phase polymer processing (1) and coating processing (2)
