As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. Description:

The Leech Lake Dam and Recreation area is located in the middle of the Chippewa National Forest in Northern Minnesota. The campground offers wooded campsites with access to Leech Lake a famous perch, walleye, and musky fishery.

Alerts and Important Information

This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends.
This campground requires a 3 night minimum stay on holidays.
Reservations are accepted from May 1st through September 30th.
Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance
There are 29 campsites available on a first come - first served basis during the reservation season, and all sites become first come-first served starting October 1st.
There is a limit of 1 wheeled camper and 1 tent or 2 tents per per camp pad.
All equipment must fit on the site pad. Vehicles park in developed areas only.
Please register for the campsite during booth hours 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m., 5-7 p.m.

Firewood Alert - When camping or picnicking at this recreation area, purchase your firewood from a local vendor. Don't bring firewood from home. To help prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer and other forest pests, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is prohibiting firewood if it originates more than 100 miles from this facility. Firewood originating in another state is also prohibited.
