Combined Federal Campaign
November 2005

The EMCBC recently concluded its first annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) to raise funds for local, regional, national and international charities.  The resoundingly successful campaign surpassed a $5,300 goal to raise $20,393 in gifts, pledges and special event receipts.

The EMCBC is a new organization, so the Special Events provided a welcome opportunity for employees to interact and build friendships during lunch-time events for a good cause.  We bought chances on an array of theme baskets assembled by sponsoring EMCBC offices and two parking spaces; held a very competitive Corn Hole tournament with “Walking Tacos” on the menu; and guessed the number of M&M’s in a jar.

Corn Hole Tournament trophy winners included Bill Hensley / Robin Campbell (1st Place) and Kim Johnson/Sharon Nichols (2nd Place).  Four players tossed 3 “Holie-O’s” in a row:  EMCBC Director Jack Craig, Bill Hensley, Kim Johnson and Oneda LambertCarol Eyermann received a trophy for improving the most over the course of the tournament.  Dawn Platt and Joyce Partridge were judged the “Best Cheerleaders”; Renee Holland, the “Best Substitute”; and Lynn Chafin, the “Best Airborne” tosser.

Deserving of special mention is that Tamara Ludwig’s guess of 1,687 M&M’s in a jar that actually held 1,693 was only 6 short. Talk about talent!

The two parking spaces were won by Oneda Lambert and Joanne Merritt.  Theme baskets were won by Roxie King, John Sellards, Patty Black and Carin Boyd. Deserving of special mention is Bob Nelson who was incredibly lucky to win TWO theme baskets! He returned the extra basket, and it was won by Bartley Fain.

The 2005 Campaign is now behind us. All in all, the EMCBC showed itself to be made of the right stuff.  We did it with a large dose of generosity, creativity and laughter.
