Former School Janitor Nabbed in Porn Case

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoAustin, TX - Barry Craig Nielsen, 55, of Comal County was arrested without incident yesterday evening at 11th and Red River in Austin by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Nielsen pled guilty in March 2007 in the United States District Court in San Antonio. Nielsen was allowed to remain on bond pending sentencing. It is alleged Nielsen removed his ankle monitor in addition to failing to appear for sentencing. Information developed by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force determined Nielsen was in the Austin area attempting to acquire funds to perpetuate his flight.

In February of 2006, a joint investigation with the Comal County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement discovered child pornography on Nielsen’s computers at his home in Bulverde, Texas. Nielsen had been with the Comal Independent School District for 23 years, 18 of them at Smithson Valley.

LaFayette Collins, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas states, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is committed to seeking out and arresting those individuals who are determined to victimize our children and we will not give up until we have those responsible in custody”.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in Austin are the Austin Police Department – Intelligence Unit, Travis County Sheriff’s Department, Hays County Sheriff’s Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Rangers, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
