First we turned off the set; then we cancelled cable. The only shows we miss are "Christy" on the Family Channel, and the classics (when decency still reigned) on American Movie Classics. We have an 8-year old son, who reads on a 12th grade level...as a direct result. On Saturday mornings, we find him curled up in bed reading the Hardy Boys Mysteries, or Mutiny on the Bounty, or Tom Sawyer. He is happy, well adjusted and full of hope because we do not allow the secular media world to pollute his mind with gargage and hopelessness. If we want to watch something, we play one of the many videos that we own, or we rent something uplifting from the Christian book store...i.e., C.S. Lewis. Our home and family classes at church advocate pulling the plug; radio is a much better alternative. I recommend that you wake up to the hunger for decency and wholesomeness, and begin to take your influence over the young minds of America seriously. Gayle Burson
