Just a little security FYI for those units out there who are using Yahoo Groups as a method of communication. Please make sure that your YG settings are such that any new members must be individually approved by you . There are a number of SPAM operators out there that use Yahoo Groups to "spread the word".

When you receive an email request from someone wanting to join, it is best to send a followup email to that person to inquire as to who they are. The only people you really want as part of you YG are members of your unit. In most cases, you will recognize their email.

If you do not receive an email back from that requester within a week, go to your admin tools in YG and remove them.

Yahoo Groups are a great way to help run your unit efficiently. They include a lot of features such as file storge, a calendar, and many funtions are automated. However, they need to be maintained properly.
