DMSP
OPS47 rev 41902 at Fair: A CAT 1 data loss declared (6540 s/c and 163.5 playback seconds). This data loss was declared due to a conflict (ground coordination) about a scheduled FBKS antenna being down for maintenance. The conflict led to a late acquisition on this support and the recorder with the smooth playback was scheduled to rewind only 8 seconds after the scheduled playback end time, thus leaving the crew unable to locate the position of the data on the recorder and recover the data.
OPS49 PRADS remains converged.
POES
NOAA-11 rev 75385 / W at 1639z on May 7: Executed command procedure to upload revised SBUV wavelength line segment into flex memory 2 and executed commands to initiate flex memory 2 in discrete mode.
All POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
GOES
An 8.4 second GOES-10 East/West maneuver took place at 0754Z on May 8 to maintain position in the East/West box near longitude 135W. This maneuver was delayed from the original date of May 6.
As reported yesterday, the GOES-9 Attitude and Orbit Control Electronics #2, or AOCE2 (the on-board processor) observed an on-board illegal instruction at 0625z on May 7. Subsequent to the event, the on-board Image Motion Compensation (IMC) and Mirror Motion Compensation (MMC) capabilities were disabled by engineering direction, at 0651Z and 0713z, respectively. The spacecraft remains in earth-pointing mode in an active imaging/sounding status, however Image Navigation and Registration (INR) capabilities remain disabled. Actions last night included resetting the illegal instruction counter on the spacecraft, re-enabling the reprogramming capability, and recycling the imager. These activities were successful, but a primary concern at this point is the fact that one of the Image Navigation and Registration (INR) compensation signals coming from the AOCE remains at full saturation. A meeting will occur today at noon local to discuss the plan of action.
GOES-8 continues its westward drift at 1.06 deg/day. |
