I am writing to the TTB today to urge you to allow alcohol beverage companies to include this information on their beverage packages. Putting Serving Facts labels on alcoholic beverages will enable consumers to make informed and responsible decisions about drinking. Consumers today are recommended to drink in moderation, yet there is much confusion as to what exactly makes up a standard drink. In terms of serving size and alcohol volume, it is difficult to understand how much is considered a serving given the limited information available. How many ounces of beer contain the same alcohol volume as a shot of a distilled spirit? This is hard to determine particularly since beer is not mandated to display alcohol by volume on the can. For the benefit of the consumer, I urge you to allow alcohol beverage companies to put nutritional information on their containers. Consumers want this information and deserve to have it at their fingertips. Thank you very much for your consideration.
