13. A method of forming electrostatically charged gelatin comprising the steps of:
(a) providing a collagen-containing raw material;
(b) forming an aqueous slurry with said raw material;
(c) forming a gelatin dispersion by extracting gelatin from said slurry;
(d) performing a first pH adjustment to adjust the pH of said gelatin dispersion to the isoelectric point of said gelatin;
(e) performing a second pH adjustment to adjust the pH of said gelatin dispersion from step (d) causing said gelatin to assume an electrostatic charge; and
(f) applying a DC electric current to said gelatin dispersion from step (e).
