AND EXPORT NATURAL GAS FROM AND TO CANADA

DOE/FE ORDER NO. 968-A

On August 18, 1994, the Office of Fossil Energy (FE) of the Department of Energy (DOE) granted Centra Gas Ontario Inc. (Centra Ontario) long-term authority to import and export natural gas from and to Canada pursuant to DOE/FE Order No. 968 (Order 968), in FE Docket No.94-55-NG.(1) Under this import/export authorization, Centra Ontario purchases natural gas from various Canadian suppliers in western Canada and imports up to 1,974 MMcf of this gas per year near Warroad, Minnesota (Sprague, Manitoba) for transport on Centra Pipelines Minnesota Inc. for redelivery into Canada near Baudette, Minnesota. The volumes have been used by Centra Ontario for system supply in the Fort Francis, Ontario, area. The authorization granted by Order 968 expires on October 31, 2005.

On July 24, 1998, Union Gas Limited (Union) filed an application with FE advising that Centra Ontario has been merged with and into Union effective January 1, 1998. Union requests that Order 968 be amended by substituting Union for Centra Ontario for the remaining term of the authorization.

Accordingly, pursuant to section 3 of the Natural Gas Act, the natural gas import and export authorization conferred by DOE/FE Order No. 968 is amended by substituting Union Gas Limited for Centra Gas Ontario Inc.

Issued in Washington, D.C., on August 13, 1998.
