If you can't find what you're looking for by poking around under what seem like a couple logical categories, try the following alternatives--in this order:

• Check the Information Index - This index lists lots of frequently requested web resources in alphabetical order.
• Use the Search program - Search for a single word, several words, or a specific phrase. See the Search Help page for a more detailed explanation.
• Drop us a line - At ORNL alone, there are dozens of web servers and tens of thousands of web pages, so it's pretty safe to say nobody knows where everything is. However, if you can't find what you're looking for using the methods suggested above, drop us a line and we'll try to track down whatever it is you're looking for.

About the Page

The figure below shows and describes the main features of the ORNL Public Affairs home page.

1 - News Items

Usually, there will be leads to four media releases here. If you're interested in reading more about a any of the releases, just click somewhere on the text, and you'll get the full release.

Obviously these releases don't cover everything that's going on at ORNL, so be sure to click on Recent News, News Tips, and News Archive on the left side of the page for more information.

2 - Index

The index links take users to a variety of resources--each of which is described below.

• ORNL Home - takes you to the ORNL Home page.
• Who We Are - leads to a brief overview of ORNL and links to other sources of information on who we are and what we do.
• Fast Facts - is currently under construction. When it's done it will provide quick bytes of information about the what ORNL is doing today and what we plan to do in the future. It will also offer some insights into ORNL's long and stories history.
• News Tips - Brings you up to date with
• Recent News - provides links to general ORNL news information and media releases.
• News Archives - is a searchable media release archive.
• Publications - links to many of ORNL's on-line publications.
• Research Staff - is currently under construction. When it's done it will provide links information on ORNL researchers in a wide range of disciplines.
• Subscribe - allows you to subscribe to receive ORNL media releases and related informaiton by e-mail.
• Search - lets you search for specific informaiton on ORNL's public servers. When you enter a word, or group of words, (for example: nickel aluminides) or an exact phrase surrounded by quotes (for example: "Neutron Spallation Source") into the Search Box and click on Search, the search engine begins to compare your request to its index. After a while (usually a few seconds--occasionally a minute or so), the search engine produces a list of links to the pages that most closely match your request. The best matches are listed first. If you want to know more about complex searches or other features of the search engine, take a look at the Search Help or Search Options pages.

• Info Index - lists lots of frequently requested web resources in alphabetical order.
• Comments - If you've got problems, questions, comments, complaints, or observations to share, this is the place to share them.
• Help - That's what you're reading right now.
• Disclaimers - is a page of guidelines and disclaimers relating to ORNL webservers and their contents--not particularly engaging reading, but important information nonetheless.
• Text Only - provides a version of the page that doesn't require you to download a bunch of graphics. Most of the pages on ORNL's site have some graphic content--some have lots. So if you're using a lower-speed connection or are having trouble downloading graphics, you may want to turn the graphics capability of your browser off.
