United States Marshal - Michael Credo

Marshal Credo was appointed by President George W. Bush to be the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana on September 18, 2007 after receiving confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Prior to his appointment as U.S. Marshal, Mr. Credo was a 22 year veteran of the U.S. Marshals Service, beginning his career in 1985 as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Before reporting for duty, Marshal Credo completed his initial training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia as his class’s Honor Graduate. He worked varied assignments including prisoner transportation, judicial security and fugitive apprehensions. In 1995, Marshal Credo transferred to the Middle District of Louisiana headquartered in Baton Rouge where he spent time as the Deputy in Charge of the district’s Capital Area Fugitive Task Force composed of state and local officers working in conjunction with U.S. Deputy Marshals.

In September 2002, Marshal Credo was promoted to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal where he served until President Bush nominated him to the United States Senate for consideration to be the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Since 1998, Marshal Credo has been part of the USMS recruit interview teams who conduct initial interviews of potential deputy marshal candidates. One of Marshal Credo’s most rewarding assignments was as a student advisor to a deputy marshal recruit class as they underwent basic training at the USMS Training Academy.

Marshal Credo is a 1976 graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School and has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University. Upon graduating from LSU, Marshal Credo enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and was his platoon’s Honor Graduate from the U.S. Army’s Military Police Training School at Fort McClellan, Alabama.
