Interpretive Summary: Mealybugs are common pests of many ornamental plants including bamboo. This paper clarifies the nomenclatural status of a species of mealybug that was recently discovered to be a pest of bamboo in many parts of the world including the United States. Researchers studying scale insects, quarantine specialists, and pest control operators will benefit from the results of this paper by having a stable name for this pest.

Technical Abstract: Designation of the location of the holotype of Antonina nakaharai Williams and Miller, was not explicit in the original publication of the species. This paper clarifies where the holotype was deposited.
