Participation: We are a Christian organization; we have a connectional system that connects 720 churches with the Baltimore-Washington Conference (MD and WashDC). Thousands of volunteers are participating; all ages - the volunteers are adults & students. There are hundreds of sites in our local churches within the geographical area of MD and Wash DC.

Tutoring: Our churches use a variety of training materials which can be obtained through our UM Cokesbury store. Our local church facilities are safe havens for the community children to meet.

Resources: Local churches evaluate their individual programs - Resources can be obtained
through UM Cokesbury store.

Relations: Local media, UM Media, We support existing efforts

Participation: 20 colleges and universities sponsored by the Catholic teaching order of the Christian Brothers report that their students are tutoring disadvantaged elementary students in reading.

Tutoring: The 20 high schools and colleges are spread around the United States; a total of ll07 tutors are involved. Leading groups are La Salle Univesity, Philadelphia - 375; La Salle H.S. Pasadena - l60; De La Salle High School, Chicago - ll6; and St. John's H.S., Washngton - 99.
